WORKS-IN-PROGRESS
VERNAL SHIFTS – ZINGIBERALES

Vernal Shifts is a mult-part animation project using Unity and motion capture data. It relies on the particle system feature in Unity to illustrate the motion trails of the human body and a scripted video camera for the cinematography.
The first prototype animation, Zingiber, was completed in July 2025 (screenshot below). Its goal was to depict chronic pain in a graceful and contemplative manner to raise awareness of how much patients ‘mask’ each day. The term ‘masking’ refers to the act of hiding any unpleasant reactions or symptoms experienced with a health condition.
